Last 2020, we visited Colombia. Hidden high within the mist-shrouded peaks of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta lies Teyuna—the Lost City. While these ancient ruins offer a breathtaking glimpse into the architectural ingenuity of the past, they are more than just an archaeological wonder; they are the ancestral heartbeat of the Tayrona people. Today, the descendants of this great civilization serve as the "Elder Brothers," the guardians of the earth, yet they face an existential struggle against displacement, cultural erosion, and systemic poverty.

Fast forward to 2021, we visited Rocinha, Brazil. Rocinha is a place of profound complexity—a vibrant community built on the steep hillsides of Rio de Janeiro, pulsing with culture, music, and resilience. However, beyond the colorful facades lies a daily battle for dignity. As the largest favela in Brazil, its residents navigate distinct hardships, from limited access to clean water and sanitation to the looming shadow of violence and economic insecurity.
